Suzanne Gorman

$15 Cover

An evening with Suzanne Gorman. To listen to samples, visit www.reverbnation.com/suzannedeegorman

Suzanne Gorman's music hits both the adult contemporary and country genres. Her music has both pop and country appeal, with the same caliber of talent as top artist Shania Twain. Suzanne is a new artist that writes her own music with her first nationally distributed CD “Open Book” which highlights both her vocals abilities and her writing.

Suzanne’s father and brother’s love for music influenced her to enjoy all types of music. At age 7 she climbed onto her first horse and that is when her passion for horses began. Her training and dreams involved one day qualifying for the Olympics in Dressage. In 1996 Suzanne suffered a serious surgical neck injury. With this new battle to overcome she looked to learning to play the guitar as part of her therapy. As time passed the guitar has not only proven itself as a recovery tool but also has inspired a new musical awakening within her. Music has a way of healing any broken heart as Suzanne found out.

This impressive artist has also been able to give back to the community with her uplifting spirit and songs. Suzanne started a foundation, called “Christians Night Live,” which has raised more than $450,000 since 2002 for Muscular Dystrophy treatment. On this impressive debut CD “Open Book“, recorded with top-call sidemen at Reba McEntire’s Starstruck Studios, she makes it clear that a broad background, a history of battling down challenges, and a commitment to sharing her gift with the world can only enhance a talent that’s already unique.

She wants the public to know that with a strong love for life and the will to fight, the mind and heart can become powerful through a long challenging journey. She loves people and wants to give back in equal measure of what she has received. Every moment in life that she shares her music, she feels like she is in the right place at the right time.

Cliff Eberhardt with Louise Mosrie

$20 Cover

An evening with Cliff Eberhardt.
To listen to samples, visit www.cliffeberhardt.net

Cliff Eberhardt knew by age seven that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Growing up in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, he and his brothers sang together and their parents played instruments. His dad introduced him to the guitar and he quickly taught himself to play.

Fortunate enough to live close to the Main Point (one of the best folk clubs on the East Coast), he cut his teeth listening to the likes of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bonnie Raitt, and Mississippi John Hurt — receiving an early and impressive tutorial in acoustic music. At the same time, he was also listening to great pop songwriters like Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and Rodgers and Hart, which explain his penchant for great melodies and clever lyrical twists.

The End of America with Letitia VanSant

$15 Adv / $20 At the Door

An evening with The End of America.
To listen to samples, visit www.theendofamericamusic.com

The End of America is a band of friends, singers and travelers who blend three-part harmony with rock and Americana. The Philadelphia-based outfit masters a style that resonates with fans of Ryan Adams, CSNY and Dawes.

All frontmen of previous bands, Brendon Thomas, James Downes and Trevor Leonard met on tour in 2005. They went on to form a trio that highlights their vocal chemistry and captures the raw honesty of their performances. TEOA recently released their debut LP (self-titled), a follow-up to their previous EPs, Shakey and Steep Bay.

The new album was written in the wake of a series of close calls: one involving a van accident on tour, and the other when drummer Jarrod Pedone was involved in a hit-and-run that left him in a coma for months. Fortunately the band walked away unscathed, and Jarrod made a stunning recovery. The following winter all members relocated to Philadelphia to write and hone their new sound. Joining forces with longtime friend and engineer Dave Downham in the producer’s chair, the band tracked 11 new songs at nearby Gradwell House Recordings in Haddon Heights, NJ.

Since its formation in 2013, Tough Old Bird has taken its music to bars, festivals, coffee shops, music clubs and radio stations all over the Eastern United States. The core of Tough Old Bird’s sound comes from Matthew Corrigan’s intricate acoustic guitar work, and from the voice and nimble harmonica playing of Nathan Corrigan, who holds a degree in literature and brings a poetic sensibility to the duo’s lyrics. Psalmships and Jim Trainer

$10 Cover$25 Cover

An evening with Psalmships and Jim Trainer.
A special double feature.

Joshua Britton writes and plays songs for people who are alone, at night, biting their lower lips and holding something back; songs for people who enjoy painkillers, or short romances, or horses and mountains and rivers and such. His band Psalmships, with its revolving membership, offers up restrained atmospherics to emphasize the weighty and familiar themes of spiritual exploration and heartened loss. Some have called the music "grizzled, ghastly, ghoulish, gothic Americana,” and some have said his “whiskey-fueled folk numbers...are as beautiful as they are powerful.” To listen to samples, visit www.psalmships.bandcamp.com

After cutting his teeth for years backing legendary bluesman Shakey Lyman in Philadelphia, Jim Trainer came down to Austin, TX following that Americana sound. He wanted to emulate the taut economy of song and high lonesome poetry he heard coming from all those great Texas folk and country outlaws. Enlisting the talents of Kyle Clayton (Akina Adderly/Lost Pines) on upright bass and Billy Brent Malkus (The Texas Sapphires/Nathan Hamilton) on telecaster and harmonies, Trainer was able to realize his roots-rock sound and vision. Trainer's songwriting takes the listener with him down that dusty road, where his anti-heroes might find redemption and victory - even if it means losing on their own terms. David Wilcox with Louise Mosrie

An evening with David Wilcox.
To listen to samples, visit www.davidwilcox.com

Cleveland-born David Wilcox is a father, a husband, a citizen and a songwriter. First inspired to play guitar after hearing a fellow college student playing in a stairwell, Wilcox is now 18 records into a career marked by personal revelation and wildly loyal fans. His lyrical insight is matched by a smooth baritone voice, virtuosic guitar chops, and creative open tunings, giving him a range and tenderness rare in folk music.

Wilcox released an independent album in 1987, was a winner of the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk award in 1988, and by 1989 he had signed with A&M Records. His first release on the label, How Did You Find Me Here, sold over 100,000 copies the first year largely by word of mouth.

Considered a 'songwriter's songwriter', his songs have been covered by artists such as k.d. lang and many others. In addition to his writing prowess, his skills as a performer and storyteller are unmatched. He holds audiences rapt with nothing more than a single guitar, thoroughly written songs, a fearless ability to mine the depths of human emotions of joy, sorrow and everything in between, and all tempered by a quick and wry wit.

Danielle Miraglia comes armed with a strong steady thumb on an old Gibson, an infectious stomp-box rhythm and harmonica. Her tunes range from heart-felt to socially conscious and will move both your heart and hips. Danielle's latest release “Box of Troubles” a bare-bones expression of all these attributes, explores the highs and lows that life has to offer and has already received rave reviews. Alternate Root says “Danielle Miraglia’s guitar work keeps Delta traditions alive. Her steady thumb and playing style trace a direct line to the blues of the field and chicken shacks. Vocally, Danielle’s voice digs in, twisting within the delivery, seeming to break but more likely soaring before the fall. ‘Box of Troubles’ balances good times with the bad, her characters roles’ defined and believable.”

John Flynn is an American singer songwriter and activist known for his powerful music and tireless efforts on behalf of “the lost and the lonely, the shackled and scarred”. His career has embodied an authentic troubadour odyssey that moved legendary folk DJ Gene Shay to call Flynn "the most quintessential folk singer in my life", and Andrew L. Braunfeld of the Philadelphia Folk Festival to say, "It has been disappointing that the world of folk music has not, during the last half century, been creating many new heroes. John Flynn is a notable exception, and is worthy of our respect as he follows the paths of Woody Guthrie, Phil Ochs and Kris Kristofferson."

"John Flynn is the real deal. His work follows in the footsteps of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Kris Kristofferson, and other social justice troubadours as he speaks the truth and gives a voice to society’s disenfranchised. His work fills your heart and opens your eyes as he continues to walk the walk of a true advocate for equality, justice, and peace."
